Tony Batalla

Chief Information Officer, City of Oakland

Tony Batalla once heard a story about a kid in the sixth grade who figured out that he could make money selling snacks at school. He’d buy chips, soda, chocolate bars and candy at the corner store and then sell them to other students at lunch time for a profit. He would even make menus in the morning with “dynamic” pricing. However, when the principal found out, he was suspended for exhibiting “problem behavior.” Well, a lot has changed since then. Today, Tony Batalla hopefully recognize and encourage that as “entrepreneurial behavior."
